RMAS – developing a framework for shared research management and administration
RMAS (Research Management and Administration Systems) is a [HEFCE][1] funded initiative headed by the Universities of Exeter, Sunderland and Kent. The project aims “to help universities and colleges become more efficient by improving the research management and administration process”. It has been estimated that savings of 10 – 20% can be achieved by streamlining processes and removing inefficiencies, while providing an effective system to develop, monitor and progress research information.
Symplectic selected as a vendor
Symplectic is proud to have been selected as a vendor in 2 of the Lots provided by RMAS:
- Lot 4 = Academic Expertise
- Lot 9 = Outcomes & Outputs
Lot 4 – Academic Expertise
This module will help researchers build and hold an effective CV of all their research outputs. It will automatically integrate research profiles, outputs, organisations and funding into one easy-to-manage location. The Lot 4 module is closely linked to Lot 9 and the required functionality is carried out by [Elements’ Research Environment][2] package.
Lot 9 – Outcomes and Outputs
Lot 9 forms the basis of the information that will be displayed on a researchers CV in Lot 4. It will store research information such as publications, awards, grants and professional activities. This data will allow related content to be linked together from others within the organisation and will help to form an overview of research activity within an institution. Most importantly, this module has a link to institutional repositories to allow full text uploads of publications and other research related works. This functionality is already available via [Elements’ Repository Tools][2] package.
